Getting Dressed is the 35th episode of Elmo's World.

Guess What Elmo's Thinking about Today


Elmo opens the door to a pile of clothing that falls into the room. A video montage shows children dressing themselves, pets and toys.

Mr. Noodle

Dorothy has an orange figurine wearing a hat, mittens and pants in her fish bowl. She asks "How do you get dressed?
Mr. Noodle gets dressed. Starting in a red union suit, he buttons the top buttons on his shirt, ties his bow tie, and puts on his pants and suspenders. When he finishes, he finds his suspenders are still looped over the hook on the door they were hanging on.

Dorothy Wants to Ask Someone Else


Kids show Dorothy how they put on socks, a sweatshirt and snow pants. Elmo asks a baby with a sun hat

Elmo Has Question for You


Elmo asks the viewer to help him count 13 pairs of CGI pants marching across the screen, which are followed by three ants in the pants.

Video Email


Elmo's door opens to let computer in, then closes as the Computer comes into the room. Ernie shares that Rubber Duckie likes getting dressed and shows the duckie dressed as a police officer. After the E Mail, Computer comes out of the room, as Door opens again, Then, Door closes again as Computer left. Then, Elmo walks from his Door to his Drawer in time for the quiz.



Elmo asks questions about what people wear to work. Slimey appears in a question; in the answer, he wears a top hat and tails and dances to a clip of "Puttin' on the Ritz"



Elmo's friend Alexis dresses herself, then helps her dad dress her baby sister Arianna.



The Getting Dressed Channel shows the Lecture Lady, who sings a song with the chorus "that's what's best about getting dressed". Coming up next: "Socks in the City" and "Shall We Pants?" starring Shirt Reynolds.



Elmo talks to Book, which announces its title as "The History Of Getting Dressed" and shows a pop-up page of "caveman dress" before Tickle Me Land takes over

Tickle Me Land

Dorothy imagines Elmo in Roman times wearing a toga, in medieval times wearing a suit of armor, and two Elmos in Scotland wearing kilts (one with a bagpipe playing "Scotland the Brave", one dancing).


This is the final episode to use the ascending slide sound effect from Shoes, but that's only for one scene.
